Caring for Your Carpet Between Professional Cleanings

After a professional carpet cleaning, you might be too afraid to walk on your carpet! We understand that you are nervous about caring for your carpet between cleanings. That’s why the 360 Cleaning team has a few tips to offer you that will make you feel comfortable caring for your carpet before your next scheduled cleaning.

Caring for your carpet only requires a few simple steps.

Don’t Rub in Stains

One mistake people make is trying to rub in stains rather than dab at them. You may think you can absorb more of the spill when you rub it with a cloth, but you are actually scrubbing the stain into the carpet. In order to properly care for your carpet, you need to take a more gentle approach. Gently dab at the stain with a clean cloth or paper towels and use a cleaning solution. Excessive rubbing can cause the fibers in the carpet to breakdown.

Using Hydrogen Peroxide for Carpet Stains

Paper cuts are fairly common in an office environment, and even tiny scrapes can lead to the carpet being stained with a tiny bit of blood. When your caring for your carpet and trying to remove a bloodstain, make sure to use hydrogen peroxide to remove the stain. You should first try to loose up any dried blood with a mixture of water and mild detergent, and then you can apply hydrogen peroxide directly to the stain.

Professional Carpet Cleaning

If you’re waiting for your next professional carpet cleaning, it’s important not to let your carpet get out of hand until your next scheduled cleaning. Make sure to get everyone in your office to pitch in, and that way your carpet will still be in good shape until your next professional cleaning. You’d be surprised at how much a difference five minutes of vacuuming will make at the end of the day.
