One of the first questions that you should ask is how long they’ve been in business. There isn’t anything wrong with just starting out, but at the same time, there is no substitute for experience. If the company is brand new, ask about the owner or manager’s prior experience in the field. Next, ask what other businesses they serve in your industry. They may be very skilled at cleaning offices, but your medical practice, veterinarian office, or dental practice is going to be a very different type of job. They may not be able to tell you the exact companies they clean for, but they should be able to explain their familiarity with your type of business. Finally, don’t forget to ask about their policies that are important to you or your business or brand, such as using green cleaning products.

Employee Issues

Next, ask about their employees. How are the employees screened? What sort of training do they go through? What is their employee turnover percentage? Will you always have the same cleaning crew or will it change each time? How do they handle things like janitorial inspections and communication between their office and their employees and out to you? Don’t be afraid to ask these questions about the people you are inviting into your home or business and allowing free roam. 

Paperwork Concerns

Finally, make sure that you ask about the nitty-gritty details. Are they insured? Are they bonded? Do they carry workers’ comp insurance? Are they CIMS certified? Make sure that you’re asking to see the proof of these claims as well – they should have no issue sharing that.
